I have to admit it, I took great pleasure
in seeing your man with the silly ponytail conceding another
stupid lob (Nayim was pretty funny too). In fact I thoroughly
enjoy it whenever the English national side loses or any of
their club sides for that matter.
This is not due to blatant anti-Brit xenophobia but because
I am a proud League of Ireland supporter who wants to stand
up to the thousands on this island who dismiss their own in
favour of that over paid, over hyped and sensationalised league
across the water. The more often sides from Britain are shown
up for not being the best the better.
It really irritates me that I and the others who feel like
me can suddenly be described as some sort of fascists. Take
when we talked up a protest against the opening of that Merchandise
United shop in town, and that aul dinosaur from that rag the
Hot Press described us as loony nationalists. When in actual
fact we were talking about taking a principled stance against
a global product which threatens even further the existence
of our beloved league
Then to make matters worse we’re coupled with the barstool
brigade. We all know the types, they’ll be in the pub
happily roaring on Leeds, Chelsea etc yet when it comes to
the English national side all they do is roar abuse at them.
Maybe I’m a fool but I as far as I know Leeds are from
Yorkshire and it doesn’t take an honour in geography
to figure out that that’s in England. So while happily
supporting one team from England they cant support the main
one, once again maybe its just me but I sense some serious
hypocrisy. To make matters worse these are the ones who never
cease to grasp opportunities to slag us for supporting our
league (that is, the one that goes on in the country they
come from).
Yet I proudly support the league that is here and the main
obstacle in the way of its development is the Irish peoples
devotion to a foreign league, so bollocks to all the supposed
liberals if they cant understand why I take delight in seeing
English sides lose!
